To be born Welsh is to be born privileged
not with a silver spoon in your mouth
but with music in your blood
and poetry in your soul
THE RED DRAGON
(Y Ddraig Goch)
This is the emblem of the Welsh
people, and since the middle ages
has symbolised bravery and victory.
Reportedly, when Henry VII was
enthroned king of England in 1485,
he ordered that the Red Dragon be
officially displayed on the Welsh flag.
Often the Red Dragon is allied with the
words, Y Ddraig Goch a ddyry Gychwyn
(The Red Dragon will show the way)
